In Love by the Water, owing to a peculiar bond with the ocean, the main character - an enthusiastic reader nurtured by his fisherman father - has never had the chance to venture far from home and engage with the world. Tomorrow, the local school reopens near the town's pier, purchased by a wealthy industrialist. Seizing the opportunity, our self-taught and socially inexperienced main character strives to break out of his shell and make new friends, all while safeguarding his family's secret.
The central focus of the narrative centers on school and romance, with pivotal plot elements delving into the protagonist's struggle with his mother's mermaid existence.
